English Premiership – Week 16 Preview

It is an odd time of the English rugby season. On the one hand the national test side is set to play at home against Italy this weekend while on the other the domestic professional league continues. The following preview details who will feature in the English Premiership this weekend from the Americas.

In Coventry the Wasps are at home against the Newcastle Falcons. The visitors have named Evan Olmstead on the bench. The Canadian second-rower is back in the Premiership following his time playing for Auckland in New Zealand. Missing the match will be Santiago Socino, a possible player on Mario Ledesma’s list for RWC 2019.

Socino is to meet with Ledesma over the coming days. The same applies to Santiago Cordero who will start at fullback for the Exeter Chiefs on Saturday. The Chiefs are to play on the road against the Worcester Warriors. Missing for the Warriors is Joe Taufete’e who is on international duty with the USA in the ARC.

Yet week 16 will begin today. Involved for Saracens will be Marcelo Bosch. Ledesma will be in attendance to see the match in which the 35-year-old Bosch is a replacement against Bath. Lucas Noguera Paz again misses out, making his RWC hopes very slim.

Also playing today will be Facundo Gigena. The former Jaguar will start for the Leicester Tigers against the Sale Sharks in an away match. Gigena is now Argentina’s leading loose head prop in Europe. He is another confirmed to be meeting with Ledesma.
