Bordoli Returns to Italy

Fly half Serafin Bordoli has departed Argentina to return to Italy. The Olivos club play-maker will play for Calvisano in the Top 12 as a medical joker. The club are the league leaders of Italy’s domestic championship.

It marks a second time for Bordoli playing in Italy. The 23-year-old joined Zebre to play in the Pro 14 in 2016, returning to Argentina after two seasons.

While back in Argentina he was called-up by Gonzalo Quesada to a training roster to identify fly halves to play for Los Jaguares in the 2019 Super Rugby season. He joined Tomás Albornoz, Teo Castiglione, Tomás Granella, Joaquín Lamas, Juan León Novillo, and Franco Ulloa as 0ptions considered by Quesada.

With a Super Rugby contract not resulting Bordoli is on his way back to Italy, a country he is eligible to play for via World Rugby eligibility laws. It is an avenue which may yet be pursued.

At Calvisano Bordoli is to join fellow Argentine players Franco Brarda (prop), and Facundo Panceyra Garrido (wing). All three are instances of players who would be capable of playing for an additional Argentine Super Rugby team.
