Four Eagles in Vegas Dream Team

The first Cup Final victory of the season for the Men’s Eagles also came with individual recognition. Four players on the team have been named in the official HSBC Dream Team for the Las Vegas event, with one spot each going to New Zealand, Fiji, and finalists Samoa.

Aerial specialist Ben Pinkelman and ball hunter Stephen Tomasin earn selection, as voted by the broadcasting team, with Samoa captain David Afamasaga rounding out the forwards.

The backs are comprised of Fiji playmaker Jerry Tuwai, New Zealand standout Sione Molia, and USA pair Martin Iosefo and Carlin Isles. The latter led the tournament in tries with 8 including a hat-trick against New Zealand in the Semi Final.

Unlucky to miss out are Eagles halfback combination Madison Hughes and Folau Niua, while Danny Barrett’s arm injury ruled him out of contention on the final day.

Despite making the Semi Finals Argentina did not earn any selections, while the tournament’s DHL Impact Player winner Connor Braid and top points scorer Nathan Hirayama were overlooked on account of Canada’s 13th place finish.
