Canada’s Connor Braid has earned the DHL Impact Player award at the Las Vegas Sevens. The award is given at each tournament to the player who records the highest cumulative score in tackles made, line breaks, offloads, and carries. Braid’s totals were three higher than Scotland’s Max McFarland. Canada captain Nathan Hirayama recorded the fifth highest score in Las Vegas and also led the tournament in points scored with 53.
Braid’s totals now put him just one point behind New Zealand’s Sione Molia for the overall HSBC Sevens Series lead. The DHL Impact Player of the Year award is given out at World Rugby’s year-end awards function. USA forward Ben Pinkelman is currently in 6th spot overall.
