Anselmi to officiate Chiefs vs Sunwolves

Argentine referee Federico Anselmi is to officiate the Chiefs vs Sunwolves on Saturday. The fixture is to be a 3rd round match of the 2019 season. It is to be the second consecutive round of Super Rugby in which Anselmi has refereed a match. He took charge of the Highlanders vs Reds last weekend in Dunedin.

Saturday’s match will be played at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton. Anselmi will be the referee and it to be assisted by New Zealanders Nick Briant, and Dan Waenga. The TMO is to also be a local official with Shane McDermott having the responsibility.

Anselmi is the leading referee from the Americas. He is the region’s best hope at having an official named for RWC 2019. The last time a referee from the region took control of a match in a RWC was in 2003.
