Benjamín Urdapilleta was the starter for Castres on Sunday. The Argentine fly half scored all 18 points for the reigning Top 14 champions who downed Racing 92 18-9.
The home win sees Castres moving up to 7th position in the Top 14. This sees the club positioned just one competition point outside of the play-off zone at present.
Should Castres go on to compete in the play-offs to defend their 2018 title then Urdapilleta is sure to be highly involved. The Argentine fly half has arguably been the club’s most important player both this season and last.
The soon to be 33-year-old is chasing a place at RWC 2019. It is hard to suggest he is not well positioned to be selected for the tournament. Urdapilleta is the favorite to be selected as the understudy to Nicolás Sánchez with the Jaguares alternatives far less experienced.
