Pro D2 – Week 22 Preview

Week 22 of the Pro D2 gets underway today. In the latest round of the French second division there is plenty to look out for from the Americas with Argentina and Uruguay represented.

Opening the round will be two former mainstays in France’s elite division – Bayonne and Béziers. The Basque club have home advantage and welcome back Martín Bustos Moyano. The former Puma makes his return from injury to start at fullback.

On Friday Argentine props Carlos Muzzio and Jerónimo Negrotto start at home for Mont-de-Marsan. Joining them in the run-on team will be Uruguayan scrum-half Agustín Ormaechea. He is a certain to feature for his country in this year’s RWC.

Another from Uruguayan whose place in Japan 2019 is assured is Manuel Leindekar. He will start at home for Oyonnax against Carcassonne. Starting in the same position for the opposition will be Argentine Demian Panizzo.

Strugglers Colomiers must win their match on Friday. The club will be at home against Bressane and is to have former Puma Sebastián Poet pulling the strings from fly half. Starting at tight head prop for Bourg en Bresse will be fellow Argentine player Damián Arias.

Title contenders Brive play host to Vannes in the final Friday fixture. Starting on the left wing will be 2016 Olympian Axel Müller. The visitors have named Javier Lagioiosa to start in the second-row.

Closing week 22 will be a Sunday fixture between Charente and Nevers. Line-ups for the match will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
