Scully returns as Eagles revise ARC squad

Blaine Scully has returned to the USA squad after recovering from injury. The Eagles captain will stay with the group for the remainder of the Americas Rugby Championship as coach Gary Gold shuffles his 30-man playing roster. Scully is the most notable of six additions to the camp.

David Ainu’u, Ben Landry, and Will Hooley arrive from Europe while Nick Boyer and Mike Te’o are called from the San Diego Legion. Heading in the other direction are Premiership pair Titi Lamositele and AJ MacGinty while Duncan van Schalkwyk and Harley Wheeler have returned to Life University. Luke Hume has withdrawn due to injury and Samu Manoa is unavailable for personal reasons.

Two others will be considered as they progress from their long-term injury recoveries. Peter Malcolm and Nate Augspurger each played for their Major League Rugby sides over the weekend and will be monitored over the next couple weeks with an eye towards potential inclusion later in the tournament.

The Eagles will be looking to rebound from their disappointing loss to the Argentina XV when they host Brazil at Dell Diamond on Saturday. Their final two matches will both be played at Starfire Stadium in Seattle, with Uruguay first on March 2 and Canada following on March 8.
