South American Players in MLR – Week 3 Preview

Week 3 of the Major League Rugby (MLR) season coincides with the second round of the Americas Rugby Championship (ARC). There are to be MLR players involved in the ARC though there is to also be some players taking to the field in North America. The following preview details their involvement.

Week 3 will feature three MLR matches. First up is one Friday fixture with the Austin Elite at home against the Toronto Arrows. Named to start for there Texan capital side are two South American players. Chilean Marcelo Torrealba will play scrum-half while Uruguayan Rodrigo Silva is to play at fullback.

Missing for both the Austin Elite and Toronto Arrows will be a number of players to Americas Rugby Championship duty. Other clubs are also to be without Teros. These include Juan Echeverría, Leandro Leivas, Gastón Mieres, Diego Magno, Alejandro Nieto, Mateo Sanguinetti, Andrés Vilasca and Santiago Arata. Brazil’s Josh Reeves is also on international duty.

There is, however, one more Teros player who will play in the MLR this weekend. Starting for NOLA Gold on Sunday against the Seattle Seawolves will be Ignacio Dotti. The stand-out forward will start in the second-row.
