Argentine players Rodrigo Etchart, and Franco Sábato reached try Milestones on the 7’s World Series circuit this weekend. At the Sydney 7’s Etchart brought up 50 tries on the circuit while Sábato scored for the 100th time.
From San Isidro Club (SIC) in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires, Etchart scored his 50th career try for Los Pumas 7’s in a match against South Africa. Also from Buenos Aires, Sábato reached the milestone of 100 tries on the circuit against Tonga. He would score a second try later on in the match.
Argentina came away with two wins and one loss on what was day one of the Sydney 7’s. Wins over Tonga and Australia were companied by a loss against South Africa and heartbreak as a missed Quarter Finals spot due to Australia sneaking in a win over South Africa.
In their wins over Tonga both Australia and Argentina went one-man-up as Tali Finau and Out Mausia were both red carded. Both men made contact with the head. This follows last weekend’s tournament in Hamilton, New Zealand in which Perry Baker suffered a broken jaw due to a high and no-arms tackle from Tana Fotofili.
