A trio of Eagles have been named in the official HSBC Dream Team for the Hamilton Sevens. Ben Pinkelman, Folau Niua, and Carlin Isles have all been rewarded for their contributions to the USA’s third consecutive second-place finish that leaves them tied with Fiji for first overall on the Series table.
Pinkelman was among the tournament’s best forwards with his ball-winning attributes in the air making up for the loss of Perry Baker to injury. Isles stepped into the starting wing role and scored seven tries, a mark beaten by only two players. Surprisingly this is the first time playmaker Niua has been recognized with a Dream Team selection.
All seven players come from the two finalists. Joining Pinkelman are Fiji forwards Kalione Nasoko and Meli Derenalagi. Their own midfield creator Vilimoni Botitu is named, and as the tournament’s leading try scorer Aminiasi Tuimaba.
