Top 14 – Week 15 Preview

There’s no rest for the Top 14 after the conclusion of the European Cup pool stages. Five games will be played on Saturday with two on Sunday. Nine players from the Americas will suit up representing Argentina, Canada, Colombia, and the USA.

A spot at the World Cup could conceivably be on the line at Castres where two leading candidates from Argentina will go head-to-head. Benjamín Urdapilleta starts at flyhalf for the home side with Patricio Fernández his opposite for Clermont Auvergne. Both have the eye of Pumas selectors Mario Ledesma and Gonzalo Quesada.

Mariano Galarza was called by Argentina in November and he will start for Bordeaux in their home match against Agen. Eagles lock Greg Peterson is named on the bench. The visitors will have Facundo Bosch covering hooker while Andrés Zafra should see time as a second row replacement.

Lyon’s scrum will be anchored by Francisco Gómez Kodela in their match against Racing 92. Another tighthead prop, Canada’s Matt Tierney, is among the reserves for visiting Pau.

Sunday’s match at Toulon should feature Facundo Isa for the home team. Stade Francais could name one or both of Ramiro Herrera and Nicolás Sánchez.
