Pumas lean on experience for Hamilton 7s

Argentina have not been quite at their best over the first two rounds of the HSBC Men’s Sevens Series and they will be looking for more from a very experienced group in Hamilton. Unlike other teams, Los Pumas sent a near-full strength side to the Sudamerica Series but they did not fare particularly well.

Six members of the 2016 Olympic side are named on the roster. Gaston Revol continues as captain with forward trio German Schulz, Santiago Alvarez, and Fernando Luna all included. Out wide it’s Rodrigo Etchart and Franco Sabato who will be looked upon to do the finishing.

Of the newer players it’s in-form Marcos Moroni who has been leading the way and putting pressure on the veterans up front. Lucio Cinti is starting to break into the side and Luciano Gonzalez Rizzoni is already in his third HSBC campaign despite being only 21 years old.

The Pumas begin the tournament in 8th place overall. They have been drawn in a very competitive Pool A along with Australia, Wales, and Cape Town champions Fiji. All matches will be broadcast locally on ESPN.
