Challenge Cup – Round 6 Preview

It’s the final round of the European Challenge Cup which means one last opportunity for a handful of sides to push their way into the knockout stage. Four games will start the weekend off on Friday with two featuring Argentine exports.

Benetton Treviso need a win at Grenoble to stay alive. They will have Tomás Baravalle at hooker knowing that the result from Stade Armandie in the west is also of critical importance. Harlequins have a one-point advantage over Benetton in Pool 5 but are on the road against Agen.

Rodney Parade is a venue with plenty of history but it would be a major surprise if the Dragons were put an end to Clermont’s perfect record. In fact ASM have a perfect 25 competition points from their matches and will start Patricio Fernández at No10 to finish the job.

There are two Pumas on the roster for Stade Français at Worcester on Saturday. Ramiro Herrera starts at tighthead prop with Nicolás Sánchez on the bench. It’s a game with little meaning as Worcester have already clinched top spot and the Parisians are playing only for pride.

Mariano Galarza starts in the second row for Bordeaux as they look to play spoilers against visiting Connacht. Over in Italy, Eduardo Bello is on replacement duty for Zebre against La Rochelle
