Champions Cup – Round 5 Preview

Saturday and Sunday will see most eyes pinned on the Champions Cup where there are plenty of playoff spots to be decided. Toulon have crashed out but can still play a spoiler role in Pool 5 when they host Edinburgh on Saturday. Facundo Isa will start on the flank while the visitors have Juan Pablo Socino among their replacements.

Montpellier are still in the running and will host Newcastle knowing a win at home is a must. The Falcons will have Santiago Socino covering hooker among their reserves.

Racing 92 are the top side in the competition at the moment, unbeaten in Pool 4. Juan Imhoff will be keen to find the tryline on Ulster’s home soil at Kingspan Stadium.

Leicester’s horror season needs to regurgitation and they play an effectively meaningless contest against Scarlets. Facundo Gigena will cover loosehead prop.

Another dead rubber sees two win-less sides – Bath and Wasps – playing at The Rec. Lucas Noguera Paz is on the bench for the home side.

Exeter have Santiago Cordero around for a few more months and he will look to inspire the team against Castres on Sunday. It’s a must-win game for both teams with the French club starting Benjamín Urdapilleta at flyhalf and Taylor Paris on the left wing.

Pool 3 leaders Saracens are unbeaten and despite being on the road will be favorites against the floundering Lyon. Marcelo Bosch will be among the replacements for the former champions.

Glasgow Warriors can put themselves into the knockout stages with a convincing win over Cardiff Blues. DTH van der Merwe will be a key man on attack for the home team.
