Glendale sign Auckland prop Marco Fepulea’i

The Glendale Raptors have boosted their front row stocks with the signing of Marco Fepulea’i from New Zealand provincial champions Auckland. The tighthead prop played 10 matches during the Mitre 10 Cup campaign, including suiting up as a replacement in the Premiership Final win over Canterbury.

Fepulea’i is Auckland-born but represented Samoa in the 2015 World Rugby u20 Championship, playing all five matches in the tournament including a start against South Africa. He joined the senior Auckland squad in 2017, making one Mitre 10 Cup appearance, before becoming a mainstay this season.

The 23-year-old is the fifth prop confirmed by the Raptors for the 2019 Major League Rugby season, following Luke White, Blake Rogers, Max Lum, and Kelepi Fifita. At least one more is expected to be added in the coming days. Glendale will play a preseason match against San Diego on Sunday.
