Uruguay Ready for Seven Punta

The host nation of the Seven Punta tournament, Uruguay is ready to compete. A 12-man roster for the competition has been named with Diego Ardao among the players selected.

Uruguay are to compete against South Africa, Russia, and Colombia in Pool B of the tournament. For a complete look at the pools and match schedule click here.

The Punta Seven is the first of two legs of the 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Sevens circuit. The Uruguayan event will take place on January 05-06 while the second leg will be played over the following weekend in Viña del Mar, Chile.

The two tournaments are to have the representation of six countries from South America – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Joining from other regions are Canada, the USA, South Africa, Germany, Portugal, and Russia. 

The 2019 Seven Punta is to be a milestone tournament. It is to be the 30th edition of the competition and, like the first, it will be played at the Campus de Maldonado.

The winner of the 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Sevens will be revealed in Viña del Mar. There is more, however, on the line. The South American competitors, excluding Argentina, will qualify for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and to play in the 2019 Hong Kong 7’s, Las Vegas 7’s and Vancouver 7’s tournaments.
