Austin sign Sharks forward Rikus Zwart

Austin Elite have completed the signing of 22-year-old forward Rikus Zwart for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. He arrives from South Africa, where he has been under contract with the Sharks in Durban.

Zwart began his age grade career with Griquas before moving to the Sharks in 2015, and has since made senior appearances for the province in the SuperSport Challenge competition. He also earned caps with the NFS Griffons in the Currie Cup First Division.

Standing 6’5″ (1.96m), Zwart is equally comfortable at lock or blindside flanker. He joins a growing South African contingent at Austin with five players already on the roster along with former Springbok and current assistant coach Pedrie Wannenburg.
