Pro D2 – Week 15 Preview

Week 15 of the Pro D2 season begins today. In the latest round of the French second division there are to be some notable matches and heavy involvement of Americas players. The following preview details the involvement of those from the Americas.

The opening fixture is the only Thursday match. Béziers are at home against Nevers. Names to start in the centers is Conor Trainor. He played in all of Canada’s matches at RWCs 2011 and 2015. A third RWC is likely for him in 2019.

On Friday Charente are at home to Aix en Provence in the opening fixture of the day. Chilean Pablo Huete will cover second-row from the bench while Joel Sclavi covers tight head. The visitors are managed by Canadian legend Jamie Cudmore.

Brive are slightly off the pace on 38 points. Leading the way is Nevers with 45. This could well be altered in Week 15 and Brive have a strong shot at a win as they host Bourg en Bresse. Argentine prop Victor Damian Arias starts at tight head for the visitors.

In the Basque country the son of the great Mauricio Reggiardo will feature for Aurillac. Bernard Reggiardo will cover scrum-half for the central French side who face Bayonne.

In Paris Sebastián Poet will start at fly half for Colomiers who are away to Massy. Two further Argentine players may join him as Martín Chiappesoni is on the bench covering flanker and Agustín Costa Repetto is the reserve hooker.

Friday’s final fixture sees Mont de Marsan hosting Carcassonne. Uruguayan scrum-half Agustín Ormaechea starts for the hosts. Joining him will be Argentine Carlos Muzzio at loose head and the Italian capped Argentine Léandro Cedaro in the second-row. Jerónimo Negrotto will cover tight head from the bench while Demian Panizzo starts opposite Cedaro.

The final fixture of the round will take place on Sunday. Oyonnax will play at home against Montauban in a match in which the visitors need to get points from. Line-ups for the match will be confirmed on Saturday afternoon.
