Hughes and Barrett make Cape Town Dream Team

After being snubbed in the official HSBC Dream Team for the Dubai Sevens, the US Eagles have had two of their star players named following the Cape Town tournament. Madison Hughes and Danny Barrett are among the select seven chosen by the World Rugby broadcasting team.

Hughes captained the side to their second consecutive Cup Final appearance that has seen the Eagles rise to the top of the overall HSBC Sevens Series table for the first time in their history. Barrett’s physicality is also rewarded with his barnstorming try against New Zealand in the Cup Semi Final one of the highlights of the competition.

Joining Barrett in the forwards are a pair of captains – Samoa’s David Afamasaga and Cup Final winner Kalione Nasoko of Fiji. A second Fijian is named in the backs – Alosio Naduva – with New Zealand’s Sione Molia and South Africa’s Rosko Specman, the latter playing in his final HSBC Sevens Series tournament before committing to Super Rugby in 2019.
