Djustice Sears-Duru heads to Seattle Seawolves

Canadian prop Djustice Sears-Duru will play for the Seattle Seawolves in the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old played for the Arrows as recently as October but has instead chosen to move west rather than stay with his home team in Toronto.

It’s a significant addition for the 2018 MLR Champions. Sears-Duru has won 45 caps since becoming the third-youngest Canadian international as a 19-year-old in 2013. He appeared as a replacement in all four of Canada’s games at the 2015 World Cup.

After spending time in the Leicester Tigers academy Sears-Duru signed for Glasgow Warriors in 2016 and then spent the 2017-18 season with Ealing Trailfinders in the RFU Championship. He returned to Canada at season’s end and was part of the Centralized Training Program while turning out for the Arrows.

A loosehead specialist, Sears-Duru gives the Seawolves four senior props with Kellen Gordon also a loosehead and two tightheads in Tim Metcher and John Hayden. Eagles regular Olive Kilifi covers both sides of the scrum.

The Arrows currently have four props officially on their books but will now need to find another loosehead to compliment Rob Brouwer. A media conference is scheduled for Tuesday in Toronto to unveil the coaching staff and the 2019 roster.
