Roland Suniula joins brother Shalom at Seattle

There will be two Suniulas on one team in the 2019 Major League Rugby season, but it won’t be Austin. Roland Suniula will join brother Shalom at the Seattle Seawolves, the 2018 MLR champions confirming the signature of the former Eagles midfielder on Friday.

Roland Suniula partnered the eldest of the three internationals – Andrew – in the Austin Elite centers in five games in the inaugural season. Just a few days short of his 32nd birthday, this will be Roland’s 7th professional club having previously lined up for Auch, Vienne, and Chalon on France, Reggio in Italy, and the Ohio Aviators in PRO Rugby.

Suniula’s signing adds experience to Seattle’s midfield options after the departure of Mike Garrity and Mozac Samson. The incumbent starters are Shalom Suniula and William Rasileka with 21-year-old Canadian international George Barton also on the current roster.
