Norton sets new try-scoring plateau

England try-scoring machine Dan Norton reached an historic first on the first day of the Dubai 7s. Having already long passed former record-holder Santiago Gómez Cora of Argentina and Kenya’s legendary Collins Injera, Norton became the first player to score 300 tries on the HSBC Sevens Series in classic fashion against Canada.

He was held to just two more tries in the tournament but now holds a 31-try lead over second-place Injera. His record is even more remarkable given that only six players have even scored 200 tries on the circuit. US Eagles star Perry Baker is the closest active player to the 200 mark, finishing Dubai with 176 for his career.
