Americas Rankings – November 25 2018

Capped international competition has closed for 2018. This weekend’s November Internationals were the final fixtures with Americas Rankings on the line. Recalculations to the rankings see notable changes for the USA, Uruguay, and Canada.

Canada qualified for RWC 2019 on Friday. In booking the final spot in Japan 2019 the North Americans also improved their ranking. Having gone into the match against Hong Kong with 61.85 points Canada now have 62.95 points. This corresponds to a rise from 21st to 20th in the World Rankings.

Uruguay’s historic win over Romania also sees a rise in the rankings. Uruguay were ranked 18th in the world with 65.37 points, one place below Romania. Now the countries have traded positions with Uruguay up to 17th with 66.82 points.

The USA entered their match against Ireland ranked 13th in the world. The gulf in rankings between the sides meant no rankings points were exchanged. Yet with Georgia beating Tonga and Italy losing against New Zealand the USA actually move up to 12th in the world.

Argentina’s loss against Scotland sees Los Pumas dropping from 77.32 to 77.05 points. With Fiji upsetting France it means Argentina fall behind the Pacific Islanders to end 2018 ranked 10th in the world.

Despite the year being at an end for the Americas Rankings there is still one game remaining. Argentina will face the Barbarians in London net weekend. Americas Rankings points will next be up for grabs in February in the Americas Rugby Championship.
