Uruguay returned to winning ways today, completing a stunning 27-20 win over Romania. The victory was the first-ever for the South Americans against the Eastern Europeans.
Romania would hold an early 10-0 lead and the teams would be locked together at 20-20 in the final minute. Uruguay, though, would find a way to get over the victory line.
Ten months out from RWC 2019 Uruguay are well positioned compared to past World Cups. The country is also now officially a Tier 2 country and with wins over Canada, Namibia, Romania, Russia, and Spain since RWC 2015 the categorization has legitimacy.
