Bianca Silva Wins Brazilian Player of the Year Award

Bianca Silva is the winner of the Brazilian Player of the Year award. She was elected by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB – Comitê Olímpico Brasileiro) and is to receive the award on December 18. In 2017 the winner was teammate Raquel Kochhann.

From Guarulhos in Greater São Paulo, Silva became Brazil’s all-time top try-scorer in the Rugby Sevens World Cup. She scored five tries in four matches in the competition which took place in July in San Francisco, California.

Aged 20, Silva plays for Leoas in Paraisópolis – a favela in São Paulo. She has been a part of Brazil’s High Performance program since 2013 and has three South American titles with As Yaras. In total she has appeared in eight legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series and two World Series qualifying tournaments.
