Two new names for Brazil on Argentina tour

Brazil have called up four players for their two-match tour of Argentina, two of them uncapped. Os Tupis will play against provincial powerhouse Tucumán on Friday evening with a match against Salta on Tuesday. The first will be played at Tucumán Lawn Tennis Club with the second venue to be confirmed.

The new players are João Talamini and Thiago Evaristo. Also called into the squad are second row Gabriel Paganini and scrumhalf Daniel Lima. None of the four were part of the squad that prepared for the match against the Māori All Blacks.

Talamini is normally a loosehead prop but with Tupis incumbent Lucas Abud also present at Poli the 22-year-old has been playing in the back row this season. Evaristo, 21, is a midfielder who has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Curitiba.

The additions are required with others missing out. Luiz Vieira and Matteo Dell’Acqua have returned to their European clubs and the Duque brothers – Lucas and Moisés – are rested. Brazil will use the matches to test new combinations ahead of the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship.
