Sudamérica XV win big over Paraguay

The Sudamérica XV went 2-0 in the November Internationals by completing a big win today over Paraguay. The composite side overpowered Los Yákares 75-22 in Asunción.

The Sudamérica XV scored 11 tries with fly half Domingo Miotti converting 10 of them. In a genuine team performance nine different players crossed for Sudamérica XV tries with Juan Manuel Rodríguez and Colombia’s Jhon Arley Urrutia each scoring twice each.

Rodríguez would score the game’s opening try. It game 2:10 into the match with his second coming some 49 minutes thereafter. Urrutia’s double came in the first half with his second score bringing to a close the opening half.

The game as a contest was over at half time with the Sudamérica XV leading 54-7. So good was the team that they had four tries in the opening 14 minutes of play.

Paraguay opened their account in the 22nd minute, doing so with a try. Winger Marcelo Matiauda went over with Sergio Alvarenga adding the conversion. It would be Paraguay’s only score of the opening half.

The next time Paraguay would score would be 9 minutes from full-time. It came after the Sudamérica XV had scored all of their points. Paraguay’s late points came in the form of three unconverted tries. Sebastián Urbieta and Mateo Arevalos each scored before Matiauda went over for his second.
