New York ropes in Kyle Sumsion

Rugby United New York has added another notable to their roster. SaberCats captain Kyle Sumsion has signed on for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old will combine his playing commitments with a job as Assistant Coach of West Point Military Academy.

Sumsion was one of the league’s most consistent performers in 2018. He started all but one game for Houston, splitting his time between the blindside flank and No8. He had previously starred for the Sacramento Express and Brigham Young University. During his time with BYU he won five test caps for the Eagles, all in 2014.

New York’s loose forward stocks already contain Ross Deacon and NOLA Gold transfer Matt Hughston. Second Nate Brakeley and hooker Dylan Fawsitt add Eagles experience to the tight five, while the backs currently feature internationals Mike Petri, Seamus Kelly, Luke Hume, and England’s Ben Foden.
