In a special attraction on Friday Ulster played host to Uruguay. The Northern Ireland province vs South American country fixture was a part of week two of the November Internationals.
Uruguay used the fixture as a means of familiarizing the staff and players with the task awaiting them at RWC 2019. In Japan Los Teros will play their first two fixtures against Fiji and Georgia with just three rest-days in between. It is the minimum authorized by World Rugby.
Uruguay went from Cardiff, Wales to Belfast, Northern Ireland on Tuesday and Friday of last week to replicate the task awaiting them in 10 months time. Different combinations were used with the side that faced Ulster being much closer to full-strength.
In the match Los Teros scored one try and conceded three. The scrum was put under pressure though the performance was a marked improvement to that against the Cardiff Blues.
