Top 14 – Week 9 Preview

The November Internationals officially begin on Saturday. With France not playing until November 10 there is room for another round of the Top 14. The following preview documents the upcoming involvement of Americas’ players in week 9 of the competition.

The round opens in the Alpes on Saturday. Grenoble are to be at home against the best side so far this season, Clermont. Named to start for the visitors is Argentine play-maker Patricio Fernández.

All eyes will be on Castres vs Pau. The reason for this is Uruguay’s Rodrigo Capó Ortega is set to break the all-time appearance record in the Top 14. He will start the match, thereby officially overtaking Thibault Privat’s record of 342 Top 14 appearances. Canada’s Taylor Paris is not involved this weekend, good news with an eye to RWC Repechage.

Argentine hooker Facundo Bosch will start at flanker for Agen who are on the road against La Rochelle. He is being lined up to join La Rochelle with the club strictly interested in him to play in his natural position of hooker.

The in-form Toulouse host Bordeaux in Saturday’s final fixture. Involved will be Mariano Galarza. The RWC 2011 and 2015 second-rower starts for Bordeaux. He recently joined the club in a mid-season transfer from Gloucester.

Week 9 will conclude on Sunday with two fixtures. Lyon and Montpellier are to have home advantage against Paris and Racing 92 respectively. Argentine players are expected to feature in both games. The line-ups will be finalized on Saturday afternoon.
