SaberCats sign USA Select hooker O’Toole

The Houston SaberCats have signed Irish hooker Pat O’Toole from the San Diego Legion. An Ireland u19 representative, the 23-year-old was formerly with Guinness Pro 14 side Connacht before joining San Diego for the second half of the 2018 Major League Rugby season.

O’Toole qualifies for the USA on ancestry and was part of of the Select XV that traveled to the Americas Pacific Challenge in Uruguay. He played in all three matches, coming on as a replacement against Tonga, Uruguay, and Argentina.

Houston have now signed four new players ahead of the 2019 MLR season. Loose forwards Ayron Schramm and Mathew Faoagali were announced earlier this month while Uruguay scrumhalf Santiago Arata was confirmed just this past week. Re-signings include Chris Coyle, Cecil Garber, Kieran Farmer, Conor Mills, and Malacchi Esdale.
