Manoa Scores on Pro 14 Debut

Samu Manoa scored on his Pro 14 debut. Playing in South Africa on Saturday the Californian enforcer scored the only try for the Cardiff Blues who fell to a 21-10 defeat against the Cheetahs.

Manoa joined the Cardiff Blues this season from Toulon. He made his debut last weekend in the European Champions Cup against the Glasgow Warriors.

His try against the Cheetahs came from a charge down. Manoa did the job all by himself, pressuring Tian Shoeman’s kick, regathering the ball and running over to score.

For the Cheetahs the victory marks their first win of the Pro 14 season. They have 9 competition points compared to the Cardiff Blues’ 17. The top two sides are Leinster with 29 and the Glasgow Warriors with 27.

Next weekend the Cardiff Blues are at home against Zebre. Following the match Manoa and clubmate, Blaine Scully, will join the USA roster for the Eagles’ November Internationals against Samoa, Romania, and Ireland.
