Landry the first Women’s 7s player to score 1000 points

Ghislaine Landry has etched her name into the history books. The Canadian captain became the first player in the history of the HSBC Women’s Sevens Series to score 1,000 points. Her first conversion against France on Day One put her over the mark in the 150th series match of her career.

Landry would finish the tournament with 43 points, bringing her career total to 1,027. Poised to join her this season, possibly as soon as Dubai, is New Zealand’s Portia Woodman. The winger topped the Glendale tournament in scoring with 10 tries and 50 points, bringing her career total to 975 points.

Only five other players have topped the 500 mark for career points. Canada teammate Bianca Farella is now at 530 points, good enough for fifth overall. The USA’s Alev Kelter is two spots below at 503 points.
