Americas Rankings – October 21 2018

The Americas Rankings have been updated for October 21 2018. They have been recalculated to take into account the final round of the Sudamérica 4 Naciones B in Guatemala.

The competition was played over three match days with Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Peru being the participants. An unfortunate series of events saw Venezuela excluded after players were unable to get the necessary visas to travel to Guatemala.

For Peru the competition was new ground. Alterations to further integrate rugby in the region saw them facing Costa Rica and Guatemala for the first time. The Peruvians impressed first up, downing Costa Rica 36-14. In the final match Peru dominated the second half to record a 34-0 win.

The result means that Peru gain maximum points in the rankings exchange. This means Peru rises from 36.59 to 38.23 while Guatemala falls from 34.54 to 32.90 points.

The changes see Peru overtaking Bermuda while Guatemala drop below both the Turks & Caicos Islands and the Bahamas.

International competition resumes in November. This year’s November Internationals will be Tier 1 and 2 countries from the Americas playing capped test matches. The Americas Rankings will be updated following the completion of international competition each weekend in the month of November.
