Olmstead, Sosene-Feagai and Auckland into Mitre 10 Cup Final

Canadian forward Evan Olmstead, and USA Eagle Mike Sosene-Feagai and Auckland are into the Mitre 10 Cup Final. The two North American internationals helped the New Zealand province to victory over the Wellington Lions earlier today.

Olmstead started the match on the flank for Auckland while Sosene-Feagai was on the bench. Both players can now look to become New Zealand champions.

Auckland’s 38-17 victory set up a Mitre 10 Cup Final against Canterbury. The Cantabrians won their play-off 21-16 against fellow South Island side Tasman.

Canterbury head into the final with a phenomenal record. The province is looking to win national title number 10 from the past 11 seasons.

Olmstead is expected to feature for Canada in the upcoming RWC 2019 repechage qualifiers. Canada are up against Germany, Hong Kong, and Kenya next month. The winner of the special tournament in Marseille, France will claim the 20th, and final, place in RWC 2019.

Sosene-Feagai has plenty to prove after being omitted from the USA Eagles’ roster for the November Internationals. The Eagles have a busy month with matches against the New Zealand Māori, Samoa, Romania, and Ireland.
