North American trio set for Mitre 10 Cup Semi Finals

Three North American internationals are set to play in the Mitre 10 Cup Semi Finals on Saturday. Canterbury defeated Tasman in the first Premiership final earlier today. The second will see Auckland hosting Wellington at Eden Park.

Starting for the home side is Canada’s Evan Olmstead who will line up on the blindside flank. Eagles hooker Mike Sosene-Feagai has been named on the bench. The duo have been regulars in the Auckland team that finished first on the Premiership table this season.

Set for a memorable run-on debut is another Canada cap, Lucas Albornoz. Born in Canada but raised in Argentina, the 27-year-old made his Mitre 18 Cup debut for Northland in last week’s loss to Bay of Plenty. He will start at lock for the Taniwha against Waikato in Hamilton.

The second Championship Semi Final will see Ranfurly Shield winners Otago hosting Hawke’s Bay in Dunedin. Canadian lock Josh Larsen has not been named in Otago’s match day squad.
