Axel Müller has signed a contract extension with Brive that will see him stay at the French club at least until the end of the 2020-21 season. It comes as somewhat of a surprise given that the former Pumas Sevens star has yet to play a regular season game for the team after injuring a shoulder during a preseason match against Connacht.
After just one season with Toulon in 2016-17, Müller was loaned to Oyonnax last season where he was a regular in their Top 14 campaign. He signed a one year deal with Brive in the off-season and has made an immediate impression on coach Jeremy Davidson with his professionalism on and off the field.
Historically one of the strongest clubs in France, Brive have failed to reach the heights of their 1997 Heineken Cup title since being relegated due to financial penalties in 2000. After working their way back to the Top 14 they were again relegated after finishing at the bottom of the table last season.
