RFU Championship – Week 6 Preview

The Greene King IPA Championship has welcomed North American exports in record numbers this season. There are a dozen suiting up this weekend in six games split across Saturday and Sunday, including one league debut and a couple welcome returns to action.

Ealing ended the Cornish Pirates’ winning streak last weekend but they remain two points back of the table-toppers. This week Trailfinders have an easier task against Hartpury and both of their Eagles hold their place in the starting lineup. Ben Landry continues at lock with Andrew Durutalo on the flank.

Nick Civetta is on bench duty this week for Doncaster who host Jersey Reds at Castle Park. Richmond will try to make it two wins in a row against Coventry with the winner set to jump into the top half of the table. Ronnie McLean is in his usual No12 shirt for the hosts.

The Pirates are still leading the league but only just. Brett Beukeboom captains the team and there is a return to action for Matt Evans on the left wing after a couple weeks left out. Nottingham are surging with three wins in a row largely thanks to in-form flyhalf Shane O’Leary. He is joined by a debutante in the starting lineup as Cam Dolan makes his Championship bow albeit as a second row.

Bryce Campbell is elevated to the run-on side for London Irish as they face London Scottish in an all-exile derby. Eagles teammate Will Hooley is fit for duty again as a reserve for Bedford Blues. They travel to Headingley to face a team on the slide in Yorkshire Carnegie. The home team start Dan Moor on the right wing with Jake Ilnicki among the replacements.
