NOLA sign Australian halfback Scott Gale

The New Orleans Gold have reached back into the Southern Hemisphere for their latest signing. Australian scrumhalf Scott Gale will join the team on a two-year deal ahead of the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old brings high level experience after spending three seasons with the Queensland Reds, making his first Super Rugby start at the age of 19.

Gale will compete with incumbent Holden Yungert for the No9 shirt, though he also has the size to play elsewhere in the backline. He is currently playing for Brisbane City in Australia’s National Rugby Championship. After being left out of the Reds squad for 2017 he played for Kamaishi Seawaves in Japan.

It’s the second signing made official in the past week for NOLA, having added South African outside back Tristan Blewett just days ago. More Southern Hemisphere signings are set to be announced this month with at least one Uruguayan international headed to the Gold.
