Top 14 – Week 6 Preview

The Top 14 season rolls on. In week 6 of France’s elite competition it is derby time. All but one of the matches see neighboring clubs battling it out. The following preview details the involvement of players from the Americas.

Kicking-off week 6 will be Toulouse vs Castres. The Saturday afternoon derby will see Uruguayan Rodrigo Capó Ortega leading the visitors from the second-row. Canadian Taylor Paris joins him on the right wing while Argentine Benjamín Urdapilleta will do so from fly half.

The USA eligible Dave Ryan will start for Agen against Pau. Named on the bench is Facundo Bosch. There third choice Pumas hooker is to cover the back-row for Agen.

Bosch is a RWC 2019 hopefull. He played for Argentina in Mendoza against South Africa last month. Another player who is more than just a possibility is Francisco Gomez Kodela. He will be Lyon’s Tight Head replacement on Saturday against Grenoble.

In Saturday’s final fixture Clermont entertain Toulon. Involved for the home side will be Patricio Fernández. He is to cover fly half and the mid-field from the bench. Fernández and Urdapilleta are Argentina’s second and third choice fly halves behind Nicolás Sánchez.

On Sunday Stade Français will have home advantage in the Parisian derby against Racing 92. Not involved for the hosts and Nicolás Sánchez and Ramiro Herrera both of whom will start for Argentina against New Zealand on Saturday. Racing 92 is captained by another Puma, Juan Imhoff.
