Griffiths gets positive health report

Clive Griffiths was back at Castle Park on Saturday for the first time since suffering a heart attack two weeks ago. The Director of Rugby at Doncaster Knights underwent an operation to have a stent fitted. He has since received a positive report that there has been no permanent damage to his heart and he is expected to make a full recovery.

A former Wales international in both rugby union and rugby league, the 64-year-old shares a close connection to Americas rugby. He was Head Coach of the RGC 1404 side that featured ten Canadian players in an agreement with Rugby Canada beginning in 2010. Griffiths also acted as Defense Coach for the Canadian Senior Men’s side starting that summer until 2013.

Other players from across the Americas have come under his tutelage at Doncaster. Trinidad & Tobago native Bevon Armitage and Argentine scrumhalf Bruno Bravo were previously at the RFU Championship club while US Eagles lock Nick Civetta is currently on their books.
