The weekly spread of New Zealand’s Mitre 10 Cup has given us three games already with three Americas players taking part and another two to come. Now past the mid-point of the season each game takes on increased significance.
Thursday saw Northland and Southland going head-to-head with the Taniwha getting the 26-10 win. Tony Lamborn was on the losing end wearing No7. Beside him in the back row was former San Francisco resident Bill Fukofuka. Argentine scrumhalf Nico Costa came off the bench.
Tyler Ardron was at his preferred position of No8 and captained Bay of Plenty against Waikato earlier today. The Steamers didn’t get the result they wanted, dropping a one-sided match 54-21 to the Mooloo men. BoP now have a record of 2-4 and are not looking likely for the playoffs.
Auckland are the only undefeated team left in the competition and they will look to make it six straight wins as they travel to Taranaki tomorrow. Evan Olmstead continues on the blindside flank with Mike Sosene-Feagai named as reserve hooker.
