Barbados to host RAN 7s this weekend

Barbados will host the Rugby Americas North Sevens tournament this weekend. A total of 24 teams representing 15 countries will participate in both men’s and women’s divisions. The tournament takes place at the Holders Hill Polo Grounds in St. James beginning on Saturday.

This year’s tournament will not only offer places in the Hong Kong Sevens Qualifiers, but also the 2019 Pan Am Games that will take place in Lima, Peru, in July of next year. Champions in 2017 were Jamaica in the men’s bracket while Mexico won the women’s title.

Among the notables set to take part is Olympic medal-winner Warren Weir. The Jamaican sprinter won bronze in the 200m at London in 2012 and was also part of the 100m relay team that took gold at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.

A complete schedule can be seen below with updated results found at the official Rugby Americas North site. The tournament in its entirety will be streamed live on the RAN YouTube Channel.
