Round four of the 2018 Rugby Championship is history in more ways than one. In Wellington, New Zealand the All Blacks were beaten by South Africa. Across the Tasman Sea on Australia’s Gold Coast the Wallabies were beaten by New Zealand.
Never before in the tournament’s history have both home teams lost on the same weekend in Oceania. Both South Africa and Argentina deserved their victories. Together they have altered the 2018 Rugby Championship. New Zealand must now win on the road, taking-on Argentina next in Buenos Aires.
Argentina will prepare for the home match against New Zealand with an eye on further history. Never before have Los Pumas beaten the All Blacks. Yet until today never before had Los Pumas won two matches in a Rugby Championship tournament.
In defeating the Wallabies Argentina had impressive wingers in addition to an improved scrum and a phenomenal work rate from forwards including Marcos Kremer, Tomás Lavanini, and Pablo Matera.
