Mitre 10 Cup – Week 5 Preview

The Mitre 10 Cup is now halfway through Week 5 but the Americas contingent is still to make their bow. It should be a good week with at least four and possibly five Americas exports set to take the field, with another name familiar to North American fans.

One career first is followed by another as Nico Costa is rewarded for his try-scoring efforts. The Argentine scrumhalf will make his first start in New Zealand provincial rugby when Southland host Otago at Invercargill on Saturday. Tony Lamborn also returns for the Stags and wears the No6 shirt while former San Francisco Rush loosie Bill Fukofuka runs out at No8.

Bay of Plenty have not yet named their team for Sunday’s match at North Harbour. Tyler Ardron was not available for selection last week but could be on the bus this time around.

Patrick Tu’ipulotu has been called up by the All Blacks but Auckland have retained Evan Olmstead on the blindside flank. He makes the trip to Canterbury as does Mike Sosene-Feagai, who again covers hooker from the reserves bench.
