Romania to play Kenya and USA in November

Romania have added two matches to their November international program. The Oaks will face Kenya on November 3 and the USA on November 17. Both matches will take place in Bucharest. A match against Uruguay on November 24 is already in place, leaving the November 10 weekend as the last date to be filled for the Oaks, their first matches since being sanctioned by World Rugby in May.

[EDIT: The Romanian Rugby Federation (FRR) have now clarified that it will in fact be Romania ‘A’ that plays Kenya, not the senior test side.]

A plan to face Portugal on neutral territory in France has fallen through for the Simbas but they have instead secured a higher-ranked opponent in Romania. Kenya’s World Cup qualifier preparations will now include a mid-week match against the British Army on October 17 and a friendly against Namibia on October 21. Both matches will take place in Nairobi, as will a final home warm-up against the Loftus 200 – a select side coached by Victor Matfield – on October 28.

The USA have now confirmed matches against the Māori in Chicago on November 3 and Ireland in Dublin on November 24 on top of their new Romania commitment. They have also confirmed a match for November 10 but have yet to reveal the opponent, with Spain heavily rumored. Other options could be Japan or Samoa at a neutral venue.
