The fixtures for November’s World Cup Repechage qualification tournament have now been confirmed. Canada will compete against Kenya, Germany, and Hong Kong for the last remaining ticket to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format with only the top side advancing. At this stage the tie-breaker format is still to be confirmed. Points differential is used in the two-leg home-and-away format but it seems likely that bonus points will be the decider having been used in tournaments such as the Rugby Europe Championship and the Rugby Africa Gold Cup.
While Canada are the only side of the four to have previously participated in a World Cup, it’s Hong Kong who will enter the tournament as the highest ranked on the official World Rugby table.
