The inaugural Americas Rugby Challenge saw Colombia at home against Guyana in match two. While both are South American countries The fixture was a Sudamérica Rugby vs Rugby Americas North clash.
Colombia’s rapid rise in recent years was on show in the match. Unable to compete, Guyana were on the back-foot throughout. Both countries still have two more matches – vs Mexico and Paraguay respectively.
Day two of the Americas Rugby Challenge takes place in Medellín, Colombia on Wednesday. Guyana will need to perform far better against Paraguay while Colombia are favorites to go 2-0 in the competition against Mexico.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday. The feature match is Colombia vs Paraguay, a fixture expected to be a winner-takes-all tournament final.
Both Colombia and Paraguay played well in their respective matches on Sunday. Los Tucanes’ downing of the Green Machine, though, was the stand-out of the day.
