Reigning French champions Castres have confirmed the arrival of former Puma Mauricio Reggiardo. The current Head Coach of Agen will join Castres on a three-year-deal starting next season. Both Agen and Castres have confirmed the move.
Reggiardo will take-up the post as Castres Manager for the 2019-2010 season. He will do do in place of Christophe Urios.
For Reggiardo it is somewhat of a home coming. The 50-time capped Argentine Tight Head played for Castres from 1996-2005. In addition his scrum-half playing son was born in Castres.
Reggiardo also has prior coaching experience with Castres. He coached the club in both 2007 and 2015. Additional coaching experience include being Los Pumas forwards coach from 2008-2013, coaching Albi in the Pro D2 from 2015-2016 and seeing Agen win promotion to the Top 14 during his current position which began in 2016.
Castres’ recruitment of Reggiardo as Head Coach comes just weeks following the confirmation of former Stade Français Head Coach Gonzalo Quesada as being in charge of Los Jaguares. It gives the UAR a ready-made option for future activity.
Castres is currently the home of three players from the Americas – Rodrigo Capó Ortega (Uruguay), Taylor Paris (Canada), and Benjamín Urdapilleta (Argentina).
